BBJ MicroBiocide
BBJ MicroBiocide® for Air Ducts controls and inhibits the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and mold (and the odors they cause) that grow in the ductwork of HVAC systems for 6 months to 2 years.
BBJ MicroBiocide® is specially formulated to control and inhibit the growth of active microorganisms in all kinds of ducts and HVAC components including unlined sheet metal ducts; air supply and return ducts fabricated with wood, plywood, or OSB; flexible air ducts fabricated of metal or plastic; air handlers, mixing boxes, transfer boxes, plenums, transitions, turning vanes, dampers, fans, and fan housings.
One gallon of finished product covers 1,000 square feet of metal or flexible ducts through fog (mist) or wipe application.
Convenient to use there is no need to evacuate the building when using BBJ MicroBiocide® for Air Ducts and the product will not stain or bleach most surfaces. It can be used without protective clothing (unless the technician is actually working inside the ducts).

| CLEANED VENT | BEFORE TREATMENT | AFTER TREATMENT |
When applied to a pre-cleaned system, Oxine®(AD) greatly reduces the harmful potential associated with this microbial contamination. Oxine®(AD) has been proven effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria, mold, mildew and fungi. When prepared according to label instructions, Oxine®(AD) eliminates microorganisms of human health concern in minutes or seconds, rather than the long contact times required with other sanitizing products.
The most significant feature of Oxine®(AD) is the low toxicity and safety of the product. Oxine®(AD) concentrate has been assigned an acute toxicity rating of Category III by the EPA. This requires the product to carry only a precautionary statement of "Caution". By comparison, a Category I rating, denoting the highest acute toxicity, requires a "Danger" statement, while a Category II rating requires a "Warning" statement. Unlike other chemical products, it does not leave an active chemical residue. After treatment, the product quickly degrades to non-volatile compounds.
Oxine®(AD) is easily applied with the use of a hand held fogger or air driven sprayer. In either case, it is important that a light mist of the product is transferred throughout the pre-cleaned system completely covering the interior surface. Both commercial and residential air handling systems should be treated regularly to eliminate microbial growth.

EnviroCon Bacteriostat and Deodorizer
EnviroCon™ is an EPA Registered bacteriostat, fungistat and all purpose deodorizer. EnviroCon™ may be used wherever air needs to be treated or on the cooling coils, drip pans and other associated air conditioning parts and duct work, including all indoor environments. It not only controls the growth of microorganisms, but eliminates the unpleasant odors that are the result of this microbial growth. The powerful active ingredient in EnviroCon™ oxidizes odors associated with bacteria, mold, mildew, smoke, animals, etc. in the air and in air handling units. The product does not cover up or mask the odor with alcohol or perfumes. It eliminates the source of the odor, leaving your air fresh and clean. It is available unscented or with a light mint scent.
The most significant feature of EnviroCon™ is the low toxicity and safety of the product. The product has been assigned an acute toxicity rating of Category III by the EPA. This requires the label to carry only a precautionary statement of "Caution". By comparison a Category I rating, denoting the highest acute toxicity, requires a "Danger" statement while a Category II rating requires a "Warning" statement. In addition, EnviroCon™ is not an aerosol and contains no environmentally damaging propellants or flammable ingredients.
EnviroCon™ treatments may be applied to occupied spaces and may be used in all building HVAC systems -- residential, commercial, industrial and health facilities. It is easily applied with the use of a hand held fogger or air driven sprayer. All HVAC surfaces should be pre-cleaned prior to application. To control odors associated with bacteria, mold, mildew, animals, smoke, etc., thoroughly spray source of odor with EnviroCon™ and spray a light mist in the air.
For year round maintenance, residential homes and apartment complexes should be treated as needed. Commercial, industrial buildings and health care facilities should be treated every month to ensure effective environmental control.

FD40-20 Fungicide
Under the worst of conditions 40-20 keeps on working. In october of 1993, the Foster® products corporation research and development group applied Foster fungicidal protective coating to a piece of mild steel and submurged it in water. They kept it there until may of 1997, took it out, put it in a petri dish with nutrient and exposed it to fungi (astm g21) and bacteria (astm g22).
The results? Nothing! A fungal growth rating of 0! After 45 months of continuous immersion, almost 4 years, Foster 40-20 retained its ability to prevent mold, mildew, fungus, and odor-causing bacteria from growing on its surface.
In a separate test (ATSM b117), Foster 40-20 was applied both with and without Foster water based primer 40-26 to a mild steel test panel, and allowed to cure for seven days. An "x" was inscribed through the coating to the metal on both panels. The panels were exposed for 200 hours in the salt spray test apparatus with neither panel showing any blistering of the coating and zero creepage of rust away from the scribed line. "The panels were given the best rating of zero."
The inside of your ductwork or facility should never be exposed to this type of abuse, but it's nice to know the protection is there when you need it.

Use of Sanitizers in HVAC Systems
Sanitizers are pesticides registered by the EPA used to reduce, but not necessarily eliminate, bacteria from the inanimate environment to levels considered acceptable as determined by public health codes or regulations. A sanitizer is only effective against bacteria. These same products may also be used to treat mold and mildew if this claim is included on the approved label. Pesticide products do not sanitize mold.
Prior to having a sanitizer applied ensure the HVAC system has been properly cleaned and the contractor makes you aware of any health and safety concerns associated with the sanitizers use and proper application. Only apply EPA registered sanitizers with specific directions for use as a sanitizer on HVAC surfaces and only if its use is intended to control bacterial contamination which could not be remediated by cleaning alone. If mold control is also desired, then the product label must also state that mold will be controlled on these HVAC surfaces.
In many states a pesticide license is required for the application of sanitizers. Contact your local state authority responsible for pesticides to determine if your state has such pesticide licensing requirements.
For more information on the application and use of antimicrobial products, contact the EPA’s Antimicrobial Information Hotline by phone (703) 308-0127 (Mon-Fri 8am 5pm ET) or email Info_Antimicrobial@epa.gov or visit the EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs’ website at www.epa.gov/pesticides.
